Mount Margaret Trail

Description:
The Mount Margaret Trail begins on the right side of the Red Feather Lakes Road about 22 miles west of Livermore. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and overnight camping are permitted on this trail. This fairly level trail winds through a series of large open meadows and stands of ponderosa pine and aspen. Except for the last leg of the trail, it follows an old road bed. There are many beautiful rock formations along the way. Several side trails lead to Dowdy Lake or make loops (A Loop and B Loop trails) with the main trail. The trail ends on a ridge overlooking the North Lone Pine Creek drainage. Dispersed camping sites are located along the trail. South Lone Pine Creek must be crossed on the first leg of the trail. This trail is easy to hike and provides a relaxing walk through beautiful scenery.
