Killpecker Trail

Description:
The Killpecker Trail begins on the Deadman Road just east of the North Fork Poudre Campground at an elevation of 9,150 feet. The trail climbs gradually to an elevation of 10,960 feet where it intersects the Elkhorn Baldy Road in about 4.25 miles. The first two miles of the trail follows Killpecker Creek and can be quite rocky in spots. It crosses the creek twice over makeshift log bridges. The trail intersects Forest Road 300 three times, thus a variety of hiking loops can be planned. It does not always continue directly across the road. In two instances it picks up 50 to 100 yards down the road to the left. The trail is generally marked by tree slashes, rock cairns, or colored ribbons. Toward the end of the trail, it enters a large meadow near Middle Bald Mountain. Follow the western edge of the meadow to find the remainder of the trail. Camping, livestock, and off-highway vehicles are permitted on this trail. This trail is of low to moderate difficulty to hike.
