Tuxedo - Hollowell Trail

Description:
      The Tuxedo - Hollowell Trail begins from the Moraine - Tuxedo Park Trail at 7,790 feet, parallels the Bear Lake Road, and intersects the Mill Creek Trail at an elevation of 8,413 feet. This trail receives low usage by hikers.

     The trail leaves the Moraine - Tuxedo Park Trail and travels through a ponderosa pine forest. After about .6 miles it crosses Bear Lake Road and follows the ridge above the road. It climbs up and down ridge as it travels west. You get good views of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain along the way. It passes above the Mill Creek Trailhead and intersects the Mill Creek Trail about .3 miles west of the trailhead. This trail is easy to hike.

Directions:
    The west end of the Tuxedo - Hollowell Trail can be reached via the Mill Creek Trailhead at Hollowell Park. Take Highway 36 from the Beaver Meadows Entrance to the Bear Lake Road. Follow Bear Lake Road for about 3.5 miles to Hollowell Park. Turn right to the trailhead. The parking area has room for 12 to 15 vehicles and will accommodate small horse trailers. There are restrooms at this trailhead.
