Skeleton Gulch Trail

Description:
The Skeleton Gulch Trail leaves the Grand Ditch Trail at an elevation of 10,221 feet. It climbs to the west for about 1.1 miles to an elevation of 10,806 feet. It offers access to the Skeleton Gulch Campsite and for climbing Mount Richthofen. The trail crosses over Grand Ditch over a log foot bridge and then crosses another over Sawmill Creek. It then turns west, paralleling Sawmill Creek. It makes a gentle climb through dense spruce forest with a tall grassy forest floor. There are a few wild huckleberries along this trail. You get great views of Teepee Peak as you pass through some meadows. The trail gets steeper as you travel farther west. After a while it levels off and intersects the path to the Skeleton Gulch Campsite. The trail ends at a meadow about 50 to 100 yards beyond the path. Horses are not permitted on this trail.
