Gourd Lake

Description:
Gourd Lake is a beautiful deep blue lake that sits in a bowl surrounded on the north by rock walls. Only about 50% of the shoreline is accessible for fishing. The south and east shores allow access for fishing. Campsites are limited around the lake. No campfires are allowed. The lake is reported to contain some large cutthroat trout.

Directions:

Gourd Lake is located in the Indian Peaks Wilderness and can be reached via the Gourd Lake Trail. Take Highway 34 north from Granby to the entrance of the Arapaho National Recreation Area. Travel east on Forest Road 125 for about 10 miles to the Monarch Lake Trailhead. From the Monarch Lake Trailhead take the Cascade Creek Trail to the Buchanan Pass Trail. Travel 2.3 miles on the Buchanan Pass Trail to the Gourd Lake Trail. It is a steep 2.7 mile climb to the lake. The distance from the trailhead to the lake is about 8.4 miles.
