Upper Lake
Description:
Upper
Lake is a shallow lake about .2 miles northeast of Stone Lake in the Indian
Peaks Wilderness. It is surrounded by magnificent peaks, including Hiamovi
Tower on the western end. This lake contains cutthroat trout and can be fished
from anywhere along its shoreline. There are lots of places to camp with a
permit for the Hell Canyon Travel Zone. Open campfires are permitted here.

Upper
Lake is best reached via the Roaring Fork Trail. Take Highway 34 north from
Granby to the Arapaho National Recreation Area (about 5 miles). Follow Forest
Road 125 for about 10 miles to the Roaring Fork Loop of Arapaho Bay Campground
and the trailhead. Take the Roaring Fork Trail for about 6.74 miles to the lake.
This trail is fairly steep in places.
