Lake Pueblo State Park is located about 14 miles west of Pueblo at an elevation of 4,690 feet. There are five campgrounds in the park. These include: Arkansas Point, Juniper Breaks, Prairie Ridge, Yucca Flats, and Kettle Creek. The latter three are collectively known as the Northern Plains Campground and are close together. There are a total of 401 campsites in the park. All of the roads and parking areas are paved. All sites have a covered picnic table, and fire pit. Water hydrants are located in all of the campgrounds. These campgrounds are quite open with only scattered vegetation making privacy limited. None of the campgrounds are located on the lake.
The Prairie Ridge Campground is a popular campground and has electrical hookups, flush toilets, showers, playground, and a dump station. The trees here are a little larger but the area is still quite open. It definitely reminds you of wide open prairie. There are 83 campsites in this campground. Sites 10, 32, and 71 are disabled accessible.
The Yucca Flats Campground is just west of Prairie Ridge and also has electrical hookups, flush toilets, showers, playground, and a dump station. There seems to be fewer trees in this campground. Loops F, G, and H are reserved for group camping only and are available by reservation only through Pueblo Headquarters at 719-561-9320 (ext. 100). There are 103 campsites in this campground (84-186). Sites 107, 128, and 179 are disabled accessible. There is an amphitheater across from the Yucca Flats Campground.
The Kettle Creek Campground has 28 campsites (187-214) and has more primitive facilities. It sits in depression or bowl and is more sandy than the other campgrounds.
The campground is open year round and is especially popular during the summer months. Reservations are accepted.

HORSEBACK RIDING: Lake Pueblo offers 16 miles of trails for horseback riders.
Take I-25 to Pueblo, then U.S. 50 west, for four miles. Turn south on Pueblo Boulevard and go four miles to Thatcher Avenue. Turn west and drive six miles to the park.
