Carter Lake has six campgrounds situated around its north, east, and south shores. The elevation here is about 5,760 feet. These campgrounds will accommodate anything from tents to large RVs. There are 107 campsites spread across six campgrounds. These campgrounds include: North Pines, Eagle, Lowell ’s Campground, Big Thompson, Carter Knolls, and South Shore . They vary widely as to the amenities that they provide. Most have good views. There is a dump station near the entrance to the park. Reservations are accepted and a Larimer County Parks Permit is required. These campgrounds are very popular and often fill most weekends. Campsites are reservable from April through October. Most sites are available on a first come first served basis from November through March.
The Eagle campground has 49 campsites, all of which are suitable for RVs. The campground is divided into four loops. There are three vault toilets, three water hydrants, electrical hookups, and a playground area. Shade varies from none to large ponderosa pine trees. Most of the sites have pull-through parking areas. There is a boat parking area and a boat launch area across County Road 31. Roads through the campground are gravel.

FISHING: A variety of fish species are contained in Carter Lake.
BOATING: Water skiing and sailing are popular at Carter Lake.
Take Highway 34 west from Loveland to County Road 29. Turn south on CR 29 and travel about two miles to CR 18E. Turn west on CR18E and go about 2.2 miles to the entrance to CarterLake.
